Titan Skin Tightening Treatment
Infrared light energy safely heats the deep layers below the surface of the skin (dermis) without damaging the outer skin (epidermis) protected by intense cooling. The heat causes collagen contraction and stimulates new collagen production. The treatment is performed with multiple passes in dime-sized segments. When the treatment head is applied, the patient feels cooling followed by a short heating cycle (aprox 6 seconds) and followed by a 2nd cooling phase.
The procedure time: from 15 min to over an hour, depending on the size of the area. There is no downtime or after care required. The results should become fully evident in about 12 weeks and are supposed stay in place for up to 1-2 years. The number of treatments can be 1 to 4 (some doctors prefer series of less intense treatments) with 4 weeks interval.
The Titan results seem to vary a great deal from phenomenal to no results whatsoever, therefore the outcome of the procedure is pretty much unpredictable. Some patients report to feel no pain during the treatment, while others consider it to be extremely painful. Based on our experience we came to a conclusion that the outcome of Titan procedure depends on the level of experience of the person performing treatment. It also hugely depends on patient’s age, skin condition and level of pain tolerance. The procedure will not improve any other signs of aging, such as dark spots, scars, sun damages, etc.
Titan, also known as Cutera Titan treatment, has shown
no serious side effects.
Titan vs. Thermage
Both Titan and Thermage are none surgical treatments and are supposed to achieve similar results in skin tightening and collagen rebuilding. Professionals
continuously discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both methods and consider
it to be too early to come up with a clear-cut answer.
Both procedures use energy to penetrate and heat the deep layers of the skin. Thermage is a more painful but more powerful procedure and requires less number of treatments; the collagen production is faster and lasts longer, however it has more complications. The risk of complications with Titan is substantially lower, but the results in most cases are less obvious and take longer to show.
None of those procedures can be compared to face lift surgery, since they only work on the skin tissue, leaving the other face structures untouched.
Titan vs. Ulthera
The Ulthera belongs to a newer generation of face lifting procedures and stands out from a broad variety of non-invasive anti-aging treatments such as Thermage, Titan, ReFirm and Accent. The depth of the sound wave penetration makes it possible to target the tissue layers that could be previously addressed only by surgery.
Unlike Titan, which seams disappointing to many doctors and patients, Ulthera is the first device that uses ultrasound technology to address sagginess of face muscles, improves contours of the face and under the chin area, lift eye brows and corners of the mouth.
Advantages of Ulthera vs. Titan procedure:
- The ultrasound highly focused acoustic energy penetrates deeper under the skin surface than laser, radio frequency or infrared light waves and therefore tightens multiple layers of the skin.
- Acoustic imaging enables to evaluate conditions of soft tissue beneath the skin and increase the accuracy of the ultrasound wave impact.
- Ultrasound technology allows different levels of the skin to be treated simultaneously thus increasing the efficacy of the procedure
- Ulthera is safe, compatible and complimentary with laser and filler treatments since it affects the underlying structures, which are below the areas treated by laser or fillers
- The Ultherapy procedure is less painful and is reported to have less side effects
